7 Things Claude Does Better Than Every Other AI

Marcus RodriguezMarcus Rodriguez

Claude doesn't have the brand recognition of ChatGPT or Google's marketing machine behind Gemini. But for specific use cases, it's the best AI available. Here are the 7 things I exclusively use Claude for.

1. Writing that actually sounds like me

Claude is the only AI that consistently matches my voice. Hand it a few examples of my writing and it picks up on cadence, word choice, even my tendency to use em-dashes too much.

ChatGPT tends toward generic professional tone. Gemini is fine but bland. Claude captures voice in a way the others don't.

2. Following complex instructions

"Write a 1,500 word article, use casual tone but not too casual, include exactly three examples, make the second section longer than the others, and don't use the word 'utilize.'"

Claude remembers ALL of these constraints. ChatGPT forgets by paragraph three. Gemini gets most of them. Claude nails it.

3. Long document editing

Upload a 30-page document and ask Claude to edit for consistency. It tracks style, catches contradictions, and maintains coherence across the entire thing. Its attention to context over long outputs is genuinely impressive.

4. Code that respects your patterns

When I give Claude existing code to extend, it actually matches my style. Variable naming, comment style, function organization—it picks up on patterns and maintains them.

Other models tend to impose their own "best practices." Claude adapts to how you actually code.

5. Having real back-and-forth conversations

Claude remembers context better in long conversations. An hour into a discussion, it still remembers what we established at the beginning. ChatGPT sometimes loses the thread. Claude rarely does.

For complex projects that evolve over a conversation, this context retention is huge.

6. Sensitive or nuanced topics

When I need to write about something delicate—health issues, difficult interpersonal situations, ethical dilemmas—Claude handles nuance better. It doesn't default to generic advice or refuse to engage.

7. Understanding what I actually want

Sometimes I'm vague about what I need. "Make this better" or "something feels off about this paragraph." Claude asks good clarifying questions and usually figures out what I meant even when I wasn't clear.

It feels more like working with someone who's trying to understand versus an AI just processing my input.

The Claude drawbacks

Transparency time: Claude isn't perfect.

It doesn't have real-time information. For anything requiring current data, Gemini or ChatGPT with browsing are better choices.

It can be over-cautious about certain content. If you're writing fiction with conflict or edge-case topics, you might hit more refusals than with ChatGPT.

And the sycophancy problem is real. Sometimes you want pushback and Claude just agrees. Though it's gotten better at disagreeing constructively.

Why I still use Claude the most

Despite the drawbacks, Claude is my daily driver. The writing quality and instruction-following are unmatched. For someone who spends most of their time writing and coding, those are the features that matter.

The multi-model approach

The honest answer is no single AI is best at everything. I use Claude for writing and complex coding, ChatGPT for quick questions and debugging, Gemini for research and current info.
